Wow, it's been a week since the last term ended. I can't believe in just a few short months, I'm going to be a seventh year! As much as I plan to enjoy the summer, I can't wait to get back on the Quidditch Pitch. Until then, there's the World Cup. The surprise Dad promised was a new owl. I named him Biscuit, since it's the first word that popped up in my head. I'm terrible at naming pets.
So, how's the week been for all of you?

Well, this week has been interesting to say the least.
I can't believe Professor Fairweather was fired! I should have known, what with the DADA curse, but I'll miss him. Though maybe I shouldn't, considering he must have done something really awful to get fired this close to the end of the school year. Does anyone have any idea why he was fired? And I heard a rumour that Dumbledore's going to be teaching DADA for the rest of the term, which should be interesting, but what's going to happen to the Dueling Club?
On a happier note, I got an owl from Dad, congratulating me on Saturday's Quidditch game. He says there'll be a surprise waiting at home for me. I wonder what it is.

Looks like the weather's warming up again. I've been spending a lot more time than usual outdoors lately, so it's good to see it look and feel like spring. The spring air must be affecting Peeves, because he's been acting up more than usual. Thanks to him, I have to start my Care of Magical Creatures essay all over again.
All this Quidditch practice is making me hungry 24/7. I could really go for some pumpkin pasties right now. The last few weeks before a game always make me think of how lucky the Hufflepuffs are to be so close to the kitchens.

So, are the rumours true? That you fancy Cecilia? Because I think she might fancy you, you know.

I can't believe how much time has passed since the holiday started! I don't want it to end so soon, but at least there's the Quidditch match against Gryffindor in May to look forward to.
Uncle Clancy's visiting, which was a nice surprise. He just got back from Japan. He brought presents, Constance and I got fans and kimonos. Japanese candy, too. The kimono and fan were pretty, but I don't think they'll be much use. The candy was delicious, though.
Thankfully, there was no baby mice wine.

I'm sure you heard rumours of Andrew's backstage escapades with Pepper at the play rehearsals. Don't know if they're true or not, especially considering the source, but some things you've said are leading me to believe they're true. Is Andrew the gay person you know? Is PEPPER the "someone else" that he fancied? Is this what's been bothering you?
If you need to get it off your chest, go ahead. Merlin knows you've been bottling it up for a while, and you know I won't tell anyone. And if you're not comfortable talking about it, I respect that.

Has anyone been reading Past Ends The Future? Has anyone finished? I'm just about to start the first of the last five chapters. Oh, Merlin, it's going to end in FIVE MORE CHAPTERS. I've tried to read at a slower pace, because I don't want it to end, but I can't seem to put it down!
Well, I'll write more about it when I'm finished, and I warn you, if you don't want to find out what happened, don't read the responses!

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????????
7 more goals, and the Kestrels would have made it into the next round. I just.... ugh. I should be glad they made it this far, but I wanted them to win and prove the naysayers wrong.
I hate to say it, but they clearly need new chasers. They're always winning by the skin of their teeth.
I don't know what else to say.... I'm too depressed right now. I know people are going to say "it's just Quidditch", but Quidditch is never "just" Quidditch to me.

I wish people would stop complaining about the Slambook superlatives already. I can understand those who are worried others' feelings will get hurt, but the holier-than-thou sticks in the mud who just want something to bitch about and act superior over are irritating me. It's just fun, and mostly harmless fun at that. And yes, most of us are getting plenty done and still have some time to engage in fun little things like the slambook awards.
Unless you're worried about others' feelings, I don't see the point in getting so worked up over it. After all, if you're so annoyed everyone isn't being as wonderfully industrious as you are, why don't you get back to your work and stop worrying about the slambook? It's kind of hypocritical to go on about others not having anything better to do, when you seem to have nothing better to do than complain about other people having fun. Next thing you know, you'll be waving your cane and yelling at people to get off your lawn.

Well, my birthday was yesterday, and it was great. I am now officially an adult.
Also, my parents sent me a few presents. Among these presents was none other than the Cleansweep Seven I've been dying for! It's amazing!
I'd say more, but I'd best be off to Quidditch practice!

I know I'm normally a good-natured person, but this is getting ridiculous.
For those of you who are unaware, Valentine's Day was named after St. Valentine, a martyred saint of ancient Rome. Yes, this sappy holiday everyone makes such a ridiculous fuss about is correlated with some bloke who was BURNED TO DEATH over a thousand years ago. It wasn't even a big deal until the greeting card companies seized the chance to make some money off of it. So instead of giving two knuts over a martyred saint, everyone gets all sappy, snogging in the hallways, or buying candy and flowers at jacked up prices (yes, they raise the prices, because they know people will buy into it). Why not save your money and buy things the next day, when they're half off? If you ask me, the fact that candy is half off the next day is the ONLY good thing about Valentine's Day. And don't get me started on the increased discussions of love potions at this time of year. Ugh.
In short, Valentine's Day was invented as a way to take your money.
On a happier note, my birthday is approaching on the 18th. I'm going to be a legal ADULT. It's kind of weird, in a good way. Merlin, I hope I get that Cleansweep Seven I've been dying for.
